FINAL: UNC Greensboro 1, Clemson 0

Clemson couldn't figure out Brooklyn Shroyer, who led UNC Greensboro to a 1-0 win in the Athens Regional opener to give the program its first win in NCAA tournament history.

Shroyer didn't allow a run on five hits and six strikeouts on 113 pitches. UNC Greensboro got the only run it needed early, as a ground out following a double scored Macy Michael. The Spartans won despite getting only two hits all game.

FINAL: Texas 9, Wagner 1 (5 innings)

Defending champion Texas needed only five innings to open its tournament with a 9-1 romp of Wagner.

After giving up one run in the top of the first, the Longhorns quickly responded by tying the score at one. Texas later led 2-1 before breaking the game open with a five-run fourth.

Viviana Martinez had a big day at the plate, going 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles and three RBI.

FINAL: Grand Canyon 5, Louisville 1

Oakley Vickers' gem lifted Grand Canyon to a 5-1 win against No. 8 Louisville in the Lincoln Regional on Friday.

Vickers went the distance, surrendering only one run on four hits while striking out nine Cardinals. Grand Canyon also never trailed, scoring two in the first inning on RBI hits by Trinity Martin and Addison Shifflett.

Madison Pickens was the only one to make a dent against Vickers, hitting a solo HR in the sixth.

FINAL: No. 5 Virginia Tech 6, South Alabama 0

Virginia Tech used a four inning grand slam and a combined four-hitter to beat South Alabama, 6-0.

With the game scoreless going into the bottom of the third, the Hokies used a walk, single and error to load the bases for Kylie Aldridge. She came through with a grand slam and her 12th home run of the year. That was all the runs Virginia Tech needed, as Avery Layton and Bree Carrico combined for seven strikeouts and only four hits allowed.

FINAL: Belmont 2, Southeastern Louisiana 0

Belmont star Maya Johnson shut down No. 8 Southeastern Louisiana, delivering a 2-0 win to set up a meeting with No. 1 overall seed Alabama on Saturday.

Johnson, the nation's ERA leader, allowed only two hits while striking out eight to blank the Lions.

Belmont got just enough offense to move to the winners' bracket, getting an RBI single from Lydia Vanderwoude in the first and a sac fly RBI from Tallulah Eichholz in the sixth.

FINAL: No. 6 UCF 2, Jacksonville State 1 (8 innings)

UCF scored a run in the seventh and eighth innings to escape Jacksonville State, 2-1, and advance to face Stetson in the winners' bracket.

The Knights trailed 1-0 and only one out from defeat when a Kendall Yarnell double kept her team in the game. Beth Damon then singled in the tying run in the seventh. In the next inning, Sierra Humphreys singled to start before stealing second. After a fly out moved her to third, Humphreys scored on a Coco Jaimes walk-off single.

FINAL: Oklahoma 11, Binghamton 0 (5 innings)

No. 1 Oklahoma, the No. 3 overall seed, had little trouble in its tournament opener, beating Binghamton 11-0 in 5 innings.

The Sooners totaled 12 hits as five players recorded at least two. Oklahoma also hit four homers, including Kendall Wells picking up homer No. 37 on the season. Wells also now has 81 RBI this year.

FINAL: Arizona 7, Marshall 5

No. 6 Arizona advanced to the winners' bracket of the Durham Regional after a 7-5 victory over Marshall. The Wildcatsโ€™ offense was led by Sereniti Triceโ€™s 3-for-3 performance and Grace Jenkinsโ€™ six-RBI showing off two home runs. The Tucson team will face Duke tomorrow at 1 p.m ET.

FINAL: Ole Miss 8, Boston U. 6

No. 6 Ole Miss closed the door on a late Boston U. rally to take the 8-6 win. In the first game of the Lubbock Regional, the Rebels jumped to a 8-2 advantage in the third frame before the Terriers plated one in the fifth. 

Boston fought in the top of the seventh, scoring three from two homers and an RBI double to cut the deficit to two. With two on and one out, the Rebels escaped off a 1-3-4 double play that marked a program-record 29th of the season.

FINAL: Stanford 8, Princeton 2

Stanford advanced to the Stillwater winners' bracket after an 8-2 win over Princeton. The Cardinal took the lead for good by scoring four runs in the second. River Mahler led Stanford offensively, going 3 for 3 with a double and two singles as the Cardinal added four more runs across three innings to finish with 12 hits on the day.

FINAL: Wisconsin 2, Baylor 1 (9 innings)

No. 8 Wisconsin outlasted Baylor 2-1 in the ultimate pitchers' duel. The first game of the Austin Regional was knotted at 0-0 entering the bottom of the sixth until Wisconsinโ€™s Alivia Bark delivered a squeeze to send Claire Calmes home. Baylor responded in the top of the next frame, punching back-to-back doubles that tied the game once again, this time 1-1. 

In the bottom of the ninth, Wisconsinโ€™s Hannah Conger faced a full count before knocking the game-winning shot over the right fielderโ€™s head to clinch the walk-off win.

FINAL: Texas A&M 17, UConn 3 (5 innings)

No. 4 Texas A&;M cruised to a 17-3 win over UConn in the opening game of the College Station regional. The Aggies powered a 13-run frame in the bottom of the second from 10 hits with three homers โ€” including a grand slam from Ariel Kowalewski. 

After extending her perfect on-base streak in every game this season earlier in the contest, Mya Perez added a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth. The Aggies ended the day with five homers and 14 hits.

FINAL: Georgia Tech 2, Texas State 1

Georgia Tech edged No. 7 Texas State 2-1 in a defensive battle. The second game of the Gainesville Regional was tied 1-1 in the top of the sixth until senior first baseman Addison Leschber slid across home off a passed ball. Madalyn Johnson delivered for the Jackets, pitching a complete game with seven strikeouts on three hits across seven innings and 102 pitches to advance her team to the winners' bracket.

The DI softball tournament begins with 32 games on Friday, May 15. The regionals are played in a double-elimination format, so no teams will be eliminated on Friday.

FINAL: Alabama 8, USC Upstate 0 (5 innings)

No. 1 Alabama delivered a 8-0 shutout over USC Update behind a massive second inning performance. The Tide delivered six runs on six hits in the bottom of the second to set the tone early. A pair of home runs from Audrey Vandagriff and Marlie Giles combined with a complete performance from Kaitlyn Pallozzi in the circle gave Alabama the run-rule victory.
